The man in Christ has been commissioned to reach the lost through the preaching of the gospel of Christ…
Mark 16:15; Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Matthew 2819. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with always, (even) unto the end of the world.
The man in Christ is to raise disciples for Christ through the preaching of the gospel and teaching of the doctrine of Christ. This begins with evangelism.
To this effect, we have been given a ministry and a message; the ministry and word of reconciliation…
2 Corinthians 518. And all things (are) of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19. To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Clearly put! We don’t just preach whatever we feel like. We preach the word of reconciliation. Our message must sound and resound justification and not condemnation. The message of reconciliation does not condemn. There is no reconciliation in condemnation, and reconciliation is void of condemnation. Hallelujah!
Now this ministry and word of reconciliation we have been given is to preach the forgiveness of sins obtained only by faith in Christ Jesus.
Our Lord Jesus Christ made this known…
Luke 2446. And He said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47. And that repentance and remission (forgiveness) of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Brackets mine)
We see Peter obey this instruction, and preached this message…
Acts 2:38; Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (forgiveness) of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Brackets mine)
This was the message of Philip the Evangelist…
Acts 85. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
Paul the Apostle preached the same message too…
Acts 1338. Be it known unto you therefore, men (and) brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgivness of sins: 39. And by Him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
It was a specific instruction he received from the Lord Jesus. He said this to king Agrippa in Acts 26:13-18.
Precisely Acts 26:18; To open their eyes, (and) to turn (them) from darkness to light, and (from) the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Me.
The preaching of Christ is the preaching of the forgiveness of sins in His name. You are not preaching Christ if you are not preaching the forgiveness of sins in His name. In this, we focus more on what Christ has done to deal with sin once for all, and we get men to see and receive the same.
Prayer…Dear Father, help me to be a true model of Christ in word and in deed. Amen.
